How to Split a PDF

Use this tool when you need separate files for chapters, attachments, or sharing only part of a document.

How It Works

  1. **Choose one PDF** — Drop or select a single file
  2. **Page count** — The worker reads the document and returns how many pages it has (your file bytes are transferred once for this step)
  3. **Define ranges** — Enter inclusive page numbers (1-based). Add more rows for more output files
  4. **Optional metadata removal** — Same as the merger: strip common info fields from every part
  5. **Split & download** — Each range is saved as its own PDF

Privacy

Splitting runs entirely in your browser with pdf-lib. Nothing is sent to ToolsGenie servers.

Tips

Overlapping ranges are allowed if you intentionally want the same pages in more than one file. For most cases, use non-overlapping ranges that cover the pages you need.
